Instruments Available in the Spectroscopy Laboratory

Renishaw inVia Raman Microscope

Raman microscope fitted with 514nm Argon+ laser. The newest spectrometer in the laboratory, located on the left-hand side of lab G31. The 514nm (green) laser source is suitable for identification and structural studies of most mineral and inorganic samples. Organic and polymer samples can also be measured, although fluorescence may be a problem depending on the structure. Fluorescence can be minimised using the red laser instruments (below).

Renishaw Micro Raman System 1000

Raman microscope fitted with a 780nm laser. This instrument is located in the centre of lab G31.

Renishaw Micro Raman System 2000

Raman microscope fitted with a 633nm laser. A good choice of instrument for samples that exhibit fluorescence. The instrument is located on the right-hand side of lab G31.
