About the Solid State and Elemental Analysis Unit
The Solid State and Elemental Analysis Unit (SSEAU) is a part of the University of NSW Analytical Centre, located in the Chemical Sciences Building (F10), on the Kensington Campus of UNSW. The Unit manages instruments for studying the microstructures of molecular and crystalline materials, analysing the chemical composition of surfaces, and determining the elemental composition of bulk samples.

Advisory Groups
The SSEAU interacts with two advisory groups, comprising academics who are significant users of instruments managed by the unit. The role of the advisory groups is to provide advice, feedback and support on:
- Policies such as the establishment of formal collaborations and researcher affiliations with the Centre.
- Training and educational needs of researchers and other operational matters.
- Cost recovery policies and user charges.
- Strategic planning for new capabilities and equipment.
- Applying of major grants such as LIEF.
- Establishing links with external organisations.
- Role of the Facility in postgraduate and undergraduate teaching.
If there are issues you would like raised at advisory group meetings the group members are listed below.
Solid State Advisory Group (X-Ray Diffraction and Surface Analysis Laboratories)
Elemental Analysis Advisory Group (ICP and X-Ray Fluorescence Laboratories)
